This week has been relatively quiet, we had three dinners this Christmas week so a lot centered around food, as most people probably had.

A week of progress has transpired as I finished planting the hedges. It took a total of 4 days, 3 hours per day to complete. I definitely felt a peaceful sense of accomplishment when it was all done on Monday.

It’s definitely winter now, this week was very gloomy, the right weather for that eerie, overcast, colourless winter scene. It can be quite enchanting in a park or outdoors, but mostly depressing in the city.

It has been some time since my last newsletter… a long holiday abroad is the main reason for it and while I did bring along my knitting, not much else happened in the craft avenue of my life.

It was a slow week last week, not too much progress. I’m taking a short break from the field for a few weeks, now there is not much prepping left to do before the hedges and trees come in.

Last Saturday I borrowed a palm router, which opened up the possibility of making grooves for drawers and such, so I go to work on cutting down my final large plywood board of 6mm thickness. It’s the thinnest board, and really just supposed to be used for

I’m off to my field this morning, I should hurry up and get there. Will do some more bean planting, not hugely excited about the effort required, but keen to try my new twister tool, which has now arrived. Let’s see how it goes…

This week I have been making up for my woodworking stall the past few weeks and have gone full steam. It started with dovetail and box joint practice.

I’ve spent the week mocking out the layout, starting with around 30 trees. I have a master spreadsheet now, which I’ve made a grid out of. Each square / cell represents one square metre.

The week started with me hurting my back. Not exactly sure how it happened, I just woke up one morning with so much pain that I could barely move or walk around.

This was a proper week of woodworking. The wood arrived last week Friday, and I got started on it the next day. I started sawing the massive sheets (2.4m x 1.2m) of plywood in garden. I have a handsaw and it was heavy going…

This week I officially finished my new blog. All the functionality is done finally! There is always tweaks and improvements, but am happy with the current state and testing is done so am happy to realise it.

Finally made it back HOME on Monday afternoon. I finished the third ball of wool on the Rikke jumper on the plane. I want to start making jumper tags for the back of the neck to write down the pattern and wool used written on it, potentially add it to old

This week was a holiday week so had a few things on pause. We took a trip around a some Nordic areas from Copenhagen to Gotland to Stockholm, ending with a Swedish wedding. This isn’t a travel blog so I won’t say too much on the travels, other than…

This week has been travel central. Started off the weekend to Tuesday in Belgium. That was a nice few days chilling with family, cleaning the sheep wool. I also took a bunch of cuttings from Hydrangea plants that my parents have here.

This week I’ve been thinking about redesigning this blog. Initially I had some ideas of adding pages to it, for example a project planning page, which would be a table view of the projects I’m planning, projects I have done etc. Filterable would be great.

Over the weekend we walked around a few cute little villages around where we’re staying. We found a French clothing shop called Fragronad, which had some really nice clothes.

This week was week the first of two weeks away in the South of France, so things are more low key on the craft front. I’ve taken with me the jumper I’m going to remake for my partner, but in a smaller size.

Over the weekend I decided to agree with the offer the seller’s land agent suggested. Negotiating hasn’t got me very far and I do just want the piece of land.

Last weekend I went to see the piece of land I found of about 3.5 acres. It’s commutable from where I live (35-40 minutes). Really nice area.

Another pattern by Petite Knit, since her designs have worked out well for me so far. This time, I want to make a jumper out of the sheep wool from my family's sheep in Belgium.

I haven't been sewing in a while and it's been on my mind to try sewing some more clothes. While in France I found a fabric shop that sold loads of cool fabrics so got excited to try something. This would also be a great craft to do this summer in France.

This blouse has a lace pattern on the front, something which I haven't knit before. That was a great experience to try. It did mean a lot of looking at the pattern to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong. I don't think I ever got to a stage where I had

These garden obelisks will be to train my garden tomatoes this summer. Previous years I've used just bamboo sticks, but I found that they're quite slippery to tie plants onto. Yes they're strong sticks, but you need some horizontal supports to hold the to

The white cotton was probably not the best choice for gloves. They are not very stretchy making it a little tight to get on. Once they're on it feels fine. However the right glove, the second one I made, is somehow smaller / tighter than the first. Perhap

This project came together pretty quick. I wanted to use up the extra timber I had from the two storage boxes. On the field I needed a place to store my extra tree stakes and bamboo sticks off the ground and mud. So I designed this rack that I thought wou

I bought one set of 6 2x2 inch timber and started making the long side of the frame. I cut everything to size with a mitre saw and got some dowels and glued it all together. I thought I had done a reasonable job... yes the dowels were probably a bit small

Spring is definitey well on its way. All the trees and hedges have a good set of leaves on them. They seem to be able to grow inside the plastic tube protectors; the leaves are a bit squashed but the light seems to get through. Some are already poking out
