I’ve been back almost two weeks, but it hasn’t really counted… Been quite sick for most of it. I’m through the other side now, so I can start to be more active.
There’s been a little progress here and there, though. The shawl is officially finished. It’s very warm and nice to wear. Happy with it overall. The pattern doesn’t quite make a triangular shape, which is what I expected, but it works nonetheless.
I ordered some cotton prints online and they arrived, but the material isn’t what I had in mind. Not a soft, flowy cotton, but a crunchy type of fabric. It doesn’t feel particularly great to wear as clothing. I made a skirt out of one of the fabrics to try it out. The shape is alright, I think this skirt pattern will always look cool, but the fabric just isn’t very nice to wear… So in the future, I’m going to need to source fabrics in person; it’s a tricky job.
Now I need to find other uses for the rest of the fabric. I should make some non-clothing items… But don’t have any inspiration currently. Annoying when you have a vision, but it keeps getting stunted and sidetracked by poor materials.
Hoping to finally visit the field this week. No more knitting left, which is sad, so I will probably do some more spinning.

Hi there I'm Charlotte from London and I am a Millennial hobbiest. By that I mean I love making things, for both the process and the outcomes. On this blog I talk about all the things I'm working on and learning each week. On some projects I will go into a bit more detail on what I did and my experience through it.
Some facts about me:
- I am not a perfectionist, preferring to complete something than to attempt to make something flawless.
- I am in a constant cycle of building up inspiration, executing the ideas, then winding down to reflect and regenerate.
- I am interested in almost anything that can be made from scratch using nature / natural materials.
