Newsletter - Christmas Week

This week has been relatively quiet, we had three dinners this Christmas week so a lot centered around food, as most people probably had. The main development is that my fruit trees arrived and have gone into the ground. I go into detail about it on my Faber Forest update. I also started planting some garlic, with onions to follow, hoping to finish that next week.

I’ll continue to focus a lot on the forest in the next coming weeks as its still key planting season, so I will order another round of mini trees, pioneer trees, that will help fill up the forest density more quickly. The species will be: alders, poplars, birches and willows. These are all fast growing trees that will give me materials like leaves, twigs, branches to start layering on the ground to develop a nutrient rich forest floor, which the fruits and berries will benefit from.

I also worked on add two drawers to my wood working bench, which I thought about doing for a while. I wanted more storage space at the table and thought this would be a convenient solution. Its almost finished, just the finishing touches needed including smoothing, sanding, and staining, then I’ll post reveal pictures and a dedicated post.

Nephew jumper is still chugging along, I’ve finished the body and almost one sleeve. There’s a chance I could finish it by next week. No further knitting projects planned so I might take a pause to figure out what else I want / need.

This newsletter may be a bit short, I feel like all my mojo went into the forest update so have a read of that one!

Hi there I'm Charlotte from London and I am a Millennial hobbiest. By that I mean I love making things, for both the process and the outcomes. On this blog I talk about all the things I'm working on and learning each week. On some projects I will go into a bit more detail on what I did and my experience through it.

Some facts about me:

- I am not a perfectionist, preferring to complete something than to attempt to make something flawless.

- I am in a constant cycle of building up inspiration, executing the ideas, then winding down to reflect and regenerate.

- I am interested in almost anything that can be made from scratch using nature / natural materials.

Thanks for stopping by!
