Newsletter - A Cold Start in December

It has been some time since my last newsletter… a long holiday abroad is the main reason for it and while I did bring along my knitting, not much else happened in the craft avenue of my life. I came back this week on Tuesday to a house with no hot water, it took 2 days for the boiler man to come so it was a cold start back.

Friday warmed up as I visited my field. My hedge order is due to arrive next week (350 bare root plants) and in preparation of that I needed to pre-dig the trench to plant them in. Luckily I did some pre-calculations and realised if I dug it by hand, about 70 metres of trench, it would take 30+ hours. That’s just silly. I managed to arrange with the local farmer and his digger to come help me do it instead, it took him about 1 hour, so I deem that a great investment. I’ll be posting a faber forest update next week about the whole day and next week’s planting so I won’t go into too much detail here. All in all, a successful Friday at the field.

I did finish my final nordic jumper of the series, which I worked on while I was away. Not the best choice project for a 30 degree humid climate, but it happened. Very happy with the result, love the smooth zipper action. All in all, big tick. I have a dedicated post for this one already up in my completed projects page if you want to see the step by step account.

Happy to be back in London, getting into new things. My crafting to do list is quite small now, so it’s time for some renewed inspo. I’m thinking fair isle jumpers, kid sized jumpers and spinning the cotton and wool I have in storage. More will surely follow.

Hi there I'm Charlotte from London and I am a Millennial hobbiest. By that I mean I love making things, for both the process and the outcomes. On this blog I talk about all the things I'm working on and learning each week. On some projects I will go into a bit more detail on what I did and my experience through it.

Some facts about me:

- I am not a perfectionist, preferring to complete something than to attempt to make something flawless.

- I am in a constant cycle of building up inspiration, executing the ideas, then winding down to reflect and regenerate.

- I am interested in almost anything that can be made from scratch using nature / natural materials.

Thanks for stopping by!
