Planning in the Cote d’Azure

27 Jul – 2 Aug 2024

This week was week the first of two weeks away in the South of France, so things are more low key on the craft front. I’ve taken with me the jumper I’m going to remake for my partner, but in a smaller size. I spent the plane journey unraveling the whole thing. A slightly painful experience, but have gotten use to it. I know it is necessary and am always thankful in the end.

I do like these weeks away without the usual distractions. It helps to get re-inspired and plan my next set of projects more carefully. I’ve been thinking about my food forest plan, which will shoot into action probably as soon as I’m back. Some plants e.g. hydrangeas should be propagated in August already. The deal hasn’t gone through yet so it’s not set, but will be doing some preparations anyway. The propagated plants (of which there are many) I will need to forage for in my area, so it does require some organisation and effort.

List of shrubs to propagate in August:

  • Willow
    • local neighbourhood
  • Raspberry
    • my garden
  • Elderberry
    • local park
  • Hazelnut
    • local park
  • Gooseberry
    • my garden
  • Hydrangeas – blue, pink, white
    • local park

By the end of the week, a good amount of progress has been made on the jumper… But it’s looking VERY small. I tried to do quite detailed calculations on the size I thought it needed to be i.e. number of stitches, and its coming out as small even for me, let alone a male figure. I’m hoping that it magically grows 50% in the blocking… If not, I’ve decided I’ll wear it for myself. The blocking process will more likely stretch to fit me well. Powering on for now.

Hi there I'm Charlotte from London and I am a Millennial hobbiest. By that I mean I love making things, for both the process and the outcomes. On this blog I talk about all the things I'm working on and learning each week. On some projects I will go into a bit more detail on what I did and my experience through it.

Some facts about me:

- I am not a perfectionist, preferring to complete something than to attempt to make something flawless.

- I am in a constant cycle of building up inspiration, executing the ideas, then winding down to reflect and regenerate.

- I am interested in almost anything that can be made from scratch using nature / natural materials.

Thanks for stopping by!
